While 'Little Gugs' served us well, highlighting our connection to the beloved Gugs, we've evolved to stand out as a unique destination. Thus, we introduce 'Ubunye' (Unity), a name that truly reflects our essence of communal harmony and connection amidst the stunning Maputaland coastline. 'Ubunye' is not just our new name; it’s our commitment to fostering a space that stands for togetherness and community.

The New look

We've transformed our camp into a contemporary beach lodge, enhancing the ambiance with modern pink and white subway tiles and an open-plan kitchen for dynamic dining. Upgrades include storm blinds for brighter interiors, spacious rooms for added comfort, and private, stylish outdoor showers. The new sunset lounge offers a serene spot to enjoy breathtaking views over the Lebombo mountains.

  • Sadly, we do not accept furry friends at Gugs, however, they are allowed at Research

  • Turtle season commences on the 15th of November and ends on the 15th of March. Laying season (big turtles) is from the early part of the season and hatchlings (babies) are from the mid to end part of the season.

  • Maputaland enjoys pleasant weather throughout the year, with the best conditions typically occurring between March and July.
